An international couple are seeking an experienced live-in Housekeeper Cook in Sunningdale, Surrey, to care for their home, prepare nutritious meals and support the smooth running of their household. Driving and caring for their two much-loved indoor cats are also important parts of this varied role.
The couple’s four-bedroom, three-bathroom home measures approximately 3,400 sq ft. They spend around 60% of the year in the UK and travel frequently, making this an excellent opportunity for a reliable, independent housekeeper who enjoys taking responsibility for a property.
While the couple are in residence, you will provide attentive, practical household support. During their overseas trips, you will maintain the home, oversee its day-to-day upkeep and care for the cats.
Housekeeping and Household Responsibilities
- Clean and maintain the home to a consistently high standard.
- Manage laundry, ironing and general household organisation.
- Keep household supplies stocked and undertake grocery shopping.
- Prepare the property ahead of the couple’s return.
- Oversee the home while the couple are away, identifying maintenance needs and reporting any issues.
- Use initiative to keep the household organised and running smoothly.
Cooking and Meal Preparation
The couple enjoy quality dining and are looking for a confident home cook who can prepare fresh, nutritious food and accommodate dietary requirements, including a gluten-free approach.
Cooking responsibilities include:
- Preparing meals once or twice per week when the couple are in residence.
- Assisting with batch cooking two to four times per month.
- Preparing and serving meals for occasional visitors, approximately once per month.
- Planning ingredients and managing food shopping.
Driving, Cat Care and International Travel
A full driving licence and your own car are essential for shopping, household errands and occasional trips, including helping transport an elderly relative.
A genuine love of cats is equally important. You will care for two indoor cats, including feeding them four times daily, brushing them daily, walking them on a harness and monitoring their general wellbeing. You will also take responsibility for their care when the couple travel.
Travel to Switzerland will be required up to four times per year, with accommodation provided. An EU passport would be desirable, alongside the relevant permission to undertake the required travel and work.

The ideal candidate will bring:
- Previous experience in private household housekeeping.
- Excellent cleaning, laundry and organisational skills.
- Confident home cooking skills and an understanding of nutrition and dietary requirements.
- The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- A discreet, dependable and flexible approach.
- A genuine affection for cats and confidence taking responsibility for their care.
- A full driving licence and their own car.
- Willingness to travel internationally when required.
Live-in Accommodation
The position includes a spacious, modern, separate one-bedroom annexe of approximately 1,200 sq ft, with a living area, steam room and shower.
The kitchen in the main house is accessed through your own separate entrance. Basic cooking appliances will be provided in the annexe, and the installation of a small kitchenette is being explored.
Working Hours and Salary
The role offers approximately 40 hours per week, normally over five days, with weekends generally off. Occasional weekend work and flexibility around the couple’s movements and travel are required.
Arrangements for the cats’ daily care during the housekeeper’s time off will be agreed with the employers.
Salary is negotiable depending on experience, with accommodation provided.
