About the Position
Silks Luxury Lifestyle is seeking an exceptional, experienced Live-In Housekeeper for a 13,500 sq ft luxury private family home in Oxshott, Surrey.
This opportunity would suit a meticulous, organised and discreet professional with a minimum of five years’ experience in high-end private households, substantial luxury residences or five-star boutique hotels.
Working closely with the House Manager, you will maintain outstanding standards of cleanliness, care and presentation throughout the property. Expertise in specialist surface care, luxury laundry and wardrobe management is essential, alongside previous childcare experience and a willingness to provide occasional family support.
The position offers £45,000–£50,000 per annum, inclusive of separate accommodation with its own private entrance, together with a £70 weekly food allowance.
The Role
As Live-In Housekeeper, you will manage daily and rotational housekeeping across a large, multi-storey family home. You will work to established household routines, plan your workload effectively and ensure that every room is consistently well cared for and beautifully presented.
The family is looking for someone calm, capable and proactive who takes pride in their work. You should be comfortable working independently, communicating with the House Manager and adapting to the needs of a busy household with three children.
Key Responsibilities
Housekeeping and Specialist Cleaning
- Follow a systematic daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedule, including rotational deep cleaning throughout the property.
- Maintain immaculate standards in bedrooms, bathrooms, living rooms, the kitchen, playroom and other family spaces.
- Clean and present the home gym, spa and pool areas, bar and home cinema.
- Care for luxury surfaces and finishes, including marble, limestone, travertine, hardwood, gold and silver plating, crystal and fine antiques.
- Use appropriate cleaning products and techniques to protect delicate materials, furnishings and household contents.
- Make beds, change linen and provide luxury turndown presentation for family and guest suites when required.
- Monitor the condition of the property and promptly report defects, damaged items, faulty appliances or repair requirements to the House Manager.
Laundry and Wardrobe Management
- Manage household laundry from sorting and washing through to drying, steaming, ironing and careful storage.
- Carry out appropriate stain treatment and precise hand-ironing of luxury clothing and fine household linens.
- Handle delicate fabrics, including silk, cashmere and lace, as well as bespoke tailoring.
- Maintain organised wardrobes, catalogue garments and coordinate seasonal clothing arrangements.
- Assist with packing and unpacking luggage for family travel.
- Work with the House Manager to coordinate dry-cleaning collections and deliveries, keeping accurate records of incoming and outgoing items.
Household Organisation and Operations
- Maintain stock levels of cleaning products, toiletries and everyday pantry essentials.
- Coordinate grocery and household supply runs with the House Manager.
- Keep cupboards, storage areas and household supplies organised.
- Assist the House Manager with overseeing external contractors, maintenance tradespeople and specialist technicians.
- Communicate household requirements clearly and contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of the home.
Occasional Childcare and Family Support
- Provide evening babysitting for the family’s three children approximately once a week or once a fortnight.
- Support the working parents and House Manager with childcare during school holidays and minor illnesses.
- Supervise the youngest child, aged four, while a parent or the House Manager collects the older children from school.
- Occasionally prepare simple, healthy meals and snacks for the children.
- Follow the parents’ instructions and provide attentive, dependable support within the family’s established routines.
Skills and Experience Required
- At least five years’ verifiable experience in high-end private households, large luxury residences or five-star boutique hotels.
- Excellent practical housekeeping skills, with exceptional attention to detail and presentation.
- Strong knowledge of specialist cleaning methods and the care of premium surfaces, fine antiques and delicate furnishings.
- An understanding of cleaning-product safety and the operation of high-end household appliances.
- Experience managing luxury laundry, fine linens, delicate garments and wardrobes.
- Previous experience caring for or supervising children.
- Strong organisational skills and confidence managing daily, weekly and monthly cleaning priorities.
- The ability to work independently while maintaining a close, professional working relationship with the House Manager.
- A calm, proactive and adaptable approach.
- The ability to meet the physical demands of housekeeping across a substantial, multi-storey property.
- Absolute discretion and respect for the family’s privacy.
- Verifiable references and satisfactory background and DBS checks.
- Willingness to sign a non-disclosure agreement.
Salary and Accommodation
The package comprises £45,000–£50,000 per annum, inclusive of accommodation, with separate accommodation featuring its own private entrance and a £70 per week food allowance.
