Luxury Private Household Laundress Required – Central London

Silks Luxury Lifestyle is seeking an exceptional Full-Time Laundress to join a fully staffed Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) private household in Central London.

This is a prestigious opportunity for an experienced private household laundress with an outstanding eye for detail and extensive knowledge of luxury garment care. The successful candidate will have a proven background caring for designer clothing, couture, fine fabrics, luxury linens, delicate lingerie and bespoke wardrobes, ensuring every item is maintained to the highest possible standard.

This role would suit a meticulous professional who takes enormous pride in their work and understands the discretion, precision and flexibility required when working within a private household.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional laundry and ironing to the highest luxury household standards.
  • Care for couture, designer garments, bespoke tailoring, fine cashmere, silk, linen and delicate fabrics.
  • Wash and care for clothing according to colour, fabric type and manufacturer’s care instructions.
  • Expert hand washing and specialist garment care where required.
  • Spot clean delicate garments using appropriate methods and products.
  • Steam, press and finish clothing to an immaculate standard.
  • Carry out minor clothing repairs, alterations and mending where appropriate.
  • Organise and manage family wardrobes to impeccable standards.
  • Rotate seasonal wardrobes and maintain accurate wardrobe organisation.
  • Pack and unpack clothing for UK and international travel, ensuring garments arrive perfectly presented.
  • Fold, store and present clothing, bedding and household linens beautifully.
  • Care for luxury bed linen, towels and household textiles.
  • Maintain luxury footwear through cleaning, polishing, conditioning and arranging specialist repairs.
  • Monitor garment condition and identify items requiring professional cleaning or restoration.
  • Prepare shopping lists for laundry products, fabric care items and shoe care supplies.
  • Maintain an immaculate laundry room with all equipment cleaned and serviced.
  • Liaise closely with the Housekeeper, House Manager and trusted specialist dry cleaners and shoe repair providers.
  • Ensure the highest standards of hygiene throughout all laundry processes.

Candidate Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • Significant experience working as a Specialist Laundress within a UHNW private household.
  • Proven checkable references
  • Exceptional knowledge of luxury fabrics, couture and designer clothing.
  • Outstanding ironing, pressing and steaming skills.
  • Experience caring for luxury lingerie, fine household linens and specialist garments.
  • Excellent wardrobe management experience.
  • Confidence with hand washing, stain removal and delicate fabric care.
  • Experience carrying out minor garment repairs and alterations.
  • A meticulous eye for detail and exceptionally high personal standards.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads.
  • Complete discretion, professionalism and trustworthiness.
  • A flexible attitude to working hours when required.
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a fully staffed household.
